Mechanical Design Engineer

We are currently recruiting for one of our trusted clients who are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer. Our client is a well-established UK-based company with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, fully compliant safety solutions and services across a wide range of industrial sectors.

The company currently has a team of nine mechanical design engineers distributed across both design offices, supported by a dedicated group of electrical design engineers. As part of their ongoing growth strategy in the North, our client is seeking to expand their team with an additional Mechanical Design Engineer at their Leeds facility.

Key Responsibilities as a Mechanical Design Engineer

• Engage with clients on-site to understand their specific requirements.
• Produce design drawings for quotation purposes.
• Develop detailed drawings for manufacturing.
• Collaborate with estimators and sales teams to ensure designs stay within budget.
• Design cost-effective solutions using standard components and efficient manufacturing techniques.
• Build and maintain long-term client relationships by providing exceptional value and service.
• Identify and pursue additional opportunities within existing client relationships.

Core Experience, Qualifications, and Skills

• Strong mechanical engineering background with relevant design experience and qualifications.
• Ability to hand sketch and measure accurately on-site.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar design software.
• Capacity to learn on the job and apply new skills effectively.
• Excellent time management skills to optimize daily productivity.
• Flexible and proactive approach to ensure project completion.
• Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with internal teams and clients.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem-solving skills and initiative.
• Solid verbal and written communication abilities.
• Proficient in IT.
• Full driving license.
• Willingness to travel and work away from home as required.
