What does the role involve? The Senior Manager/ Director, Procurement will develop and maintain strong vendor relationships with key providers, as well as, with key internal stakeholders to achieve seamless collaboration between George Clinical vendors and internal project leaders and study teams. Key Responsibilities: Organizes and leads procurement activities that include but are not limited to:managing and tracking the request for proposal (RFP) lifecycle; negotiating preferential pricing; establishing and tracking towards savings targets; and performing other commercial and transactional activities. Identifies cost reduction opportunities through strategic sourcing and supplier management initiatives. Develops and implements procurement strategies that align with the company’s objectives. Develops tools and processes to support efficient and quality driven procurement activities. Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of the industry’s market trends and developments. Leads transformational activities to build organizational procurement capabilities and improve procurement efficiency. Implements measures to optimize procurement processes, such as contract standardization and automation. Tracks and analyzes procurement data to identify trends and areas for improvement while collaborating with finance and other departments to develop and monitor cost-saving initiatives. Negotiates terms and conditions with suppliers to ensure the best possible prices and agreements. Advises on contract negotiations, vendor selection, and risk assessment, while collaborating with key internal stakeholders in addressing complex procurement issues. Ensures compliance in purchasing process, especially in vendor selection and bidding. Delivers value and competitive advantage measured by cost reduction and cost avoidance, vendor-enabled innovation, and risk mitigation. What are our expectations of candidates? Minimum of 7 years Category Management/Strategic Procurement/Vendor Management experience, plus IT Category Management experience required. Educated to a bachelor’s degree level. Experience in developing and implementing procurement processes, strategies, and best practices with strong contract management skills. Ability to foster and maintain relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders. Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements related to procurement processes. Analytical in nature with excellent communication skills - strong interpersonal, negotiation ability with exceptional problem-solving skills. Proficiency in using procurement software and tools Ideal candidates would have experience within the field of clinical vendor operational delivery (ex: Laboratories, Interactive Response Technology, Electronic Clinical Outcome Assessments, Translations) or hands on experience in the management of clinical vendor services. Experience in managing the scoping of clinical vendor services for complex sponsor protocols and familiarity with vendor startup/operational activities during maintenance phase. Experience in working with multiple stakeholders, including sponsors, in the development and finalization of vendor scope of service. Demonstrated experience in conducting difficult conversations and negotiating with sponsors as well as vendors. Preferred background in life science, pharmacy, health-related discipline, business administration, management, IT or other relevant experience within clinical vendor management required.
