Role Overview Installing, maintaining, and repairing our network infrastructure. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of telecommunications systems and a commitment to safety and quality.
Responsibilities - Undertake work on behalf of Svella/Virgin Media in a sustainable, safe, timely and cost-effective manner
- Ensure the safety of yourself and others affected by your work
- Only carry out work for which you are trained and competent and cease work where procedures cannot be followed
- Ensure quality of workmanship meets minimum standards and complies with Companies/Client Health & Safety policy and practices
- Communicate effectively with all staff Supervisors/administration and management personnel
- Ensure accurate information/paperwork is submitted as directed in a timely manner
- Consider current and next phase of work and be pro-active to ensure that you are able to complete all your planned work in a safe, efficient and organised manner
- Overall management of the work site(s), including operatives, site visitors and general public at all times
- Attend safety briefings, training, consultation meetings and health surveillance when required
- Follow up any remedial work (as necessary) in an accurate and timely manner
- Use only approved equipment, in the correct manner and protect and trace all utilities within your works area and ensure the safety and health of yourself and other
- Report and / or record all accidents, incidents, environmental events (aspects and impacts), damages, near misses and illnesses, and co-operate with site inspections and investigations.
- Comply with all Health, Safety, Engineering & Environmental requirements relevant to your duties and responsibilities, and ensure the safety of yourself and others
- Ensure completion of accurate paperwork, including submission of track sheets and relevant records in a timely manner and ensure copies are retained as appropriate
Skills, Qualifications & Experience - Valid UK driving licence held for 2 years or more with no more than 6 points on licence (essential)
- Previous, practical experience of working on VM/BT/city fibre networks
- Must have the ability to read site maps/drawings
- Cable pulling experience - fibre, coax, copper
- NRSWA accreditation (essential)
- Excellent communication skills
- Positive and enthusiastic approach to work
- Good organisation skills
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
