A National Tier 1 Main Contractor with a regional Head Office in Leeds covering West & North Yorkshire has an exciting opportunity for a motivated Design Manager to join the commercial team focussing on a specific multi-million pound construction project in North Yorkshire.
Your new role
The Design Manager will join the team at the preliminary design phase, helping shape, mould, and support the management of the design phase, acting on behalf of the Principal Contractor in coordination with the Principal Designer. This role will serve as a design liaison between both parties, ensuring collaboration is firmly at the heart of the project.
Job duties will include, but not be limited to:• Design and Construction Collaboration: Work with project teams during design and construction phases to meet safety, cost, program, and quality objectives.
• Provide construction expertise and input for reviews, ensuring alignment with project goals.
• Lead meetings to enhance schedule compliance awareness and risk management.
• CDM Principles: Apply CDM principles and facilitate communication between the Client, Designer, and Constructor.
• Risk Management: Assess project risks and support risk mitigation strategies for construction and design.

What you'll need to succeed
• Experience in design management processes and procedures. • Proficiency in interacting with consultants and meeting scheduled milestones.
• Project management experience and the ability to work with delivery teams.
• Background on large-scale industrial, commercial, or infrastructure projects.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to travel to project sites and office locations as needed.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
