Run For All are looking for a PR & Communications Executive to join the team in Leeds. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis and help lead an expanding marketing and communications team.


Run For All is one of the UK’s biggest not-for-profit sporting event companies, staging a large number of high-profile mass participation events including the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon, York 10K, Leeds 10K, Sheffield Half Marathon and The Yorkshire Marathon.


As the PR & Communications Executive, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective communications across all key functions.


You will develop, manage and implement integrated media plans to ensure all media opportunities are fully maximised, keeping effective contact with relevant media contacts to ensure positive and collaborative relationships are developed and maintained.

Working closely with the Communications Manager, you will build reciprocal partnerships to further promote the Run For All brand and calendar of events.


You will carry out a range of duties from managing and establishing media partnership, curating and managing campaigns, write press releases and monitor coverage and report results.


Pitching press releases and feature ideas to national, regional and trade journalists, across print, broadcast and online, to interest them in covering our events and human interest stories will be key in the role.

You should be confident in creating accurate and engaging copy and have some understanding of SEO. You should be social media savvy, a good storyteller, have a great turn of phrase and be bursting with fresh ideas. You will be a confident communicator and good at building relationships with a range of stakeholders, including the media. You will be confident in dealing with media enquiries and being the media spokesperson for the organisation.


With charity at our core, we are looking to employ someone who understands the unique ethos of and aims of our organisation. Applicants should be enthusiastic and hardworking, be flexible and have a positive attitude and a good sense of humour. You will need to own a car and have a full clean driving licence to be considered for this position.

You should expect to work a number of weekends and occasionally, out of hours, especially throughout the event season. (March to October)


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement PR and communications strategies that align with the company's business goals.
  • Write and distribute high quality, creative and engaging media releases and statements to support the promotion of the events and its partners.
  • Build and nurture relationships with running industry, sport and national/regional media.
  • Act as point of contact for all press and media enquiries, arranging interviews and photo calls.
  • Monitor media coverage and track PR performance metrics.
  • Create compelling content for a variety of platforms, including blogs, newsletters, social media, and the website.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to align communications and PR activities with broader campaigns.
  • Identify key opportunities to raise awareness of Run For All events and react accordingly.
  • Undertake appropriate crisis communications/reputation management processes as required in conjunction with the Communications Director and Manager.
  • Coordinate and manage media interviews, press conferences, and other PR events.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and media developments to ensure the brand remains at the forefront of the market.
  • Assist in the management and development of Run For All’s social media channels – helping to grow traffic and audiences


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (2+ years) in PR, communications, or a similar role.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of media relations, social media, and digital PR.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and meet tight deadlines. An agency background is desirable.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Experience using PR and media monitoring tools is a plus.


Salary and benefits


The salary for this post is £26,000 - £30,000 per annum, dependent on experience, plus contribution towards a personal pension following completion of a successful probationary period. Holiday entitlement is 25 days per year excluding public holidays.


Normal working hours are Monday to Friday. Additional evening and weekend work will be required, particularly in the run up to and during the event season.
