FHP Leeds office is seeking a Building Services Technical Director with a mechanical engineering background to join our well-established team. This is an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious, client-facing engineer to take a leading role on various projects across UK.
The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, confident individual with team leadership skills, capable of delivering high-profile projects to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead mid to large-sized projects as the main engineer.
- Maintain relationships with key clients and manage a team of engineers.
- Conduct quality checks and promote technical excellence.
- Ensure team results and adherence to budget.
- Mentor staff and promote continuing professional development (CPD) activities.
- Perform risk assessments and value engineering.
- Contribute to and provide information for fee proposals.
Requirements:
- Extensive experience in mechanical building services design.
- Knowledge of a wide range of market sectors.
- Previous experience managing projects and small teams.
- Ability to provide technically sound design solutions.
- Experience in seeing conceptual designs through to completion and dealing directly with clients.
- Work experience within a similar consultancy or other relevant business.
- Relevant experience in mechanical engineering design, including specification writing, calculations, and developing designs from first principles.
- Proficiency with software such as IES, Hevacomp, AutoCAD, MS Office; knowledge of Revit is advantageous but not essential.
- Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English, with the ability to inspire, influence, and negotiate.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering.
- Preferably Chartered or working towards Chartership status.
- Membership of CIBSE or a relevant and equivalent professional body.
