Purpose of job

Our aim is to become a market leader in the provision of Electric Vehicle charging solutions to Local Authorities and Businesses as part of our strategy to lead the transition to zero carbon.

The goal is to undertake an ambitious electric vehicle charging installation program, deploying high volume and quality EV installations across the nation. Our aim is to make the world a better place, one charge point at a time.

The Bid Writer will work within Zest’s sales team to create professionally written content for proposals and tenders that articulates our value proposition and win themes. They will support the end-to-end bid process, writing compelling content and working with multiple stakeholders across the business.


Key Accountabilities

The role is responsible for the following:

  • To support the Head of Bid, Senior Bid Manager and Bid Manager with writing and coordinating bid responses, ensuring bids are submitted on time and in line with the bid cycle
  • Conduct customer research to maximise understanding of their requirements and align our win themes
  • Working with the Head of Bid, Senior Bid Manager and Bid Manager to storyboard answers to responses
  • Produce high scoring proposal content that clearly articulates the benefits of our solution to meet specific client needs, which answer specific tender questions and are in line with guidance provided in the tender scoring matrix, or in line with market best practice where not provided
  • Checking drafts for clarity, grammar, spelling, punctuation, sentence structure and formatting, and confirming that the response answers the question asked.
  • Ensuring all bid management tools are used to support the production of comprehensive, timely bids
  • Keeping up to date with all bid documentation including responses to clarification questions from the client
  • Deliver completed written proposal responses to the Head of Bid or Senior Bid Manager in line with agreed deadlines, escalating issues as required
  • Proactively develop and manage a network of subject matter experts.
  • Maintaining internal content (such as ensuring our bid library, CVs, and subject matter content is kept up to date).
  • Providing regular updates on bids currently in progress to the Head of Bid and CDO as required
  • Engage with other sales team members and the wider business to ensure thorough and compelling bids are written and submitted
  • Managing own time to ensure early identification of potential conflicts with bid timetables
  • Communicating any issues and partnering with other team members to address any issues ahead of time
  • Supporting the bid team to ensure all bids are progressed in line with appropriate governance processes
  • Attending business review meetings, including quarterly in person review meetings
  • Plus, any other duties as required by the leadership team
